For our youngest players, age 7 and 8, RRSO offers the RRSO Academy. The RRSO Academy is a player development program that introduces these players to soccer. The Academy includes a weekly training session and "Play Days" including opportunities to compete with players from other communities. In addition, the Academy includes options for league and tournament play. Players learn basic skills of the game through fun yet challenging activities under the guidance of professional coaching. The RRSO Academy is a player-centered program based upon US Youth Soccer and US Club Soccer's best practice guidelines. The goal of the RRSO Academy is to expose players to "soccer problems" and introduce tools for the players to solve those problems. Players who can solve soccer problems on their own will be the most successful soccer players at the older ages. The Academy is for boys and girls who intend to play competitive soccer. Players must be able to follow instructions and stay engaged in activities will receive a refund, and will be invited to try again next season. Registration for 7 and 8 year olds to join the RRSO Academy is open through May!
For 9-15 year old players not yet in high school, RRSO offers competitive travel soccer. After a try-out and evaluation process, players are placed on age-appropriate/ability-based teams to participate in the Ohio Travel Soccer League. As a parent-volunteer based program, RRSO teams are coached by parent-volunteer coaches who complete minimum coach education, First Aid training, and concussion protocol instruction. RRSO travel teams compete in two seasons of competitive travel soccer consisting of 8 games in the Fall and 8 games in the Spring. RRSO teams practice two times each week with games on Sundays during the season. Players who are not placed on a team following tryouts and evaluations will receive a refund, and will be invited to try-out again next season. Registration for competitive travel soccer is open but players who register after tryouts are conducted are placed on a waitlist. RRSO makes an effort to place waitlisted players on teams whenever possible unless there are no roster spots available. There is no fee charged until a waitlisted player is placed on a team.
RRSO offers Winter Training for all of its competitive soccer team players.
